Child safety standards
Scrub Social is a community app for healthcare travelers. It is built for adults, and child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) have no place in it. This page sets out our standards, how to report a concern, and what we do about it.
Scrub Social is for adults only
You must be 18 or older to create an account or use Scrub Social. The app is rated for adults and is not directed to children. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it.
What is not allowed
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, in photos, video, text, or links.
- Sexualizing a minor in any way, including in messages, posts, profiles, or event descriptions.
- Grooming, solicitation, or any attempt to contact or meet a minor for sexual purposes.
- Trafficking, exploitation, or endangerment of a minor.
- Content that promotes, normalizes, or gives instructions for any of the above.
This applies everywhere in the app: profiles, direct messages, community boards, events, and photos. It also applies to links to content hosted elsewhere.
How to report a concern in the app
Every profile, message thread, post, and event has a "…" menu with Report and Block. Reports are anonymous to the person being reported. You can also open Settings › Send Feedback to write to us directly, or email support@scrubsocialapp.com from anywhere.
Child safety reports go to the front of the queue. You do not need an account in good standing, or any account at all, to tell us about one.
What we do about it
- A person reviews every child safety report, and we remove violating content.
- Accounts involved in CSAE are terminated. There is no warning and no second chance.
- Apparent child sexual abuse material is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through the CyberTipline, which shares reports with law enforcement. Outside the United States we report to the appropriate national authority.
- We preserve the related records as the law requires and cooperate with law enforcement requests.
- We comply with applicable child safety laws in the places Scrub Social is available.
Who to contact
Jason Peritz, Salt Life Tech, is our designated child safety point of contact and can speak to our CSAM prevention practices and compliance. Reach him at support@scrubsocialapp.com.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. In the United States you can also report directly to NCMEC at report.cybertipline.org or 1-800-843-5678.
Keeping this current
We review these standards at least once a year and whenever we add a feature that changes how people share content or reach each other. Our Community Guidelines and Terms carry the same rules.
